Let's talk about "BUTTONS"

If you didn't see this play at the Arts Bank in May watch this clip featuring the author of the play to see what you missed. The play is coming back. It will be at The Devon Theater, Phila, PA July 15th and 16th.

Now that the drama “BUTTONS” has been presented I hope you can recognize that some of those things that seem to be out of control in your life, that repeatedly keep sneaking up on you and catching you off guard may be that someone's got your "BUTTON". Somewhere during your life, you, me, any of us have given access to a part of ourselves and allowed a "BUTTON" to be formed. If you have no idea what I am talking about you need to come and see the play. Seeing the actors portray these characters will open your eyes to the concept of "BUTTONS" in your life. The purpose of this blog is to be a forum where we can talk about the "BUTTONS" that we know exist and support each other in our efforts to take our "BUTTONS" back and keep them.

This is not intended to be nor does it claim to be a counseling service. It simply is a forum where individuals with like problems, issues and awareness can express their concerns and help each other by anonymously sharing their stories.

The rules are simply no profanity and simply tell your own story. Don’t call any individual out by telling their story or mentioning anyone by name. So you recognize that you have "BUTTONS" you don't have to figure out how to fix it by yourself. You may need professional therapy to help you move forward. No matter what kind of help you need get your "BUTTONS" back.

On a personal note: The play "BUTTONS" opened my eyes to the repeated situations that I simply couldn’t get a grip on. Why was it all of the sudden I found myself in an explosive situation that just came out of no where? Thirty seconds earlier there had been peace and now there was warfare. I now realize that it was all about who was holding someone's "BUTTON". The trigger was pulled and a "BUTTON" was hit. Before seeing this play I simply didn’t understand what happened in these situations. I didn’t realize that I had someone's "BUTTON" and that some action on my part was causing it to be hit. When a "BUTTON" is hit it causes an action, giving power to something or someone allowing it to control you.

I recognize that I have some "BUTTONS" and others have allowed me to create a "BUTTON" or two in their life. Let’s face it we all have. I’m going to get my "BUTTONS back". It may not be easy for me or you but there is strength in numbers and there’s nothing wrong with accountability. So we can do it. Take a step back from that situation that just seems to perplex you and one at a time allow God to show you the "BUTTONS" you need to get back so you can have the peace, joy, contentment, and purpose you were always intended to have in your life

.
